You

by Andrada Costoiu

A barefoot butterfly,
Keeps dancing through my stomach,
I ache,
I see you in the cup of morning coffee I drink each day,
I see you in every sunrise,
I see you in every crashing wave that kisses the shore.

Even the ocean calms itself,
But I cannot,
I tried.
I miss you and I’ll say it,
Even if this costs me my pride, my dignity.

Of all the men I’ve fallen in love with,
You were the only one that shook my hand and looked into my eyes a little longer,
You were the only one who dipped his feet into the pool,
And said: “tell me your story”,
You were the only one that was running down the stairs to open the door for me,
You were the only one, the only one who had the strength to love me.

We’re not orbiting one another anymore.
I thought that temporary nature of everything will dust my feelings too,
But that didn’t happen….
Do you know why?
Because you’re my Rosetta stone for love,
….and I miss you.
