The piano girl

The room is alive.
Delicate-face socialites,
A jumble of silk dresses and tailored suits,
All full of stories behind their glittered masks,
Are trying to piece together their histories of tomorrow.

Some laughing loudly,
Brushing their hopeful shoulders,
In ephemeral encounters,
With chances of sentimental returns.

A lit cigarette smoldering in the ashtray,
Sends smoke over his table.
“What will his story become now?” he wondered,
While sipping from his glass of blonde whiskey,
Same as the color of her hair.

Her eyes, her skin, her glow,
Naivete and passion,
Dance through her fingers.

The piano girl….
Unbidden feelings shut his mouth and open his heart.

The piano girl,
Is an enigma, igniting a desire that no soul can animate on its own,
In a room filled
…….with ephemeral encounters.
