May the 4th be with you!

I didn’t find my Star Wars t-shirt, but I do want to make a wish to us all!

We are travelers through life. We learn, about ourselves and about others, about history, about the world we live in and so many other things. We are not perfect, nobody is, but it is through our struggles that we understand ourselves better and grow to be better people. Whatever stage in your life you are right now, I wish you happiness, growth, love and moments to remember .

May the 4th be with you ! ( May the force be with you!) 🙂

Yoshitomo Nara

By Andrada Costoiu

Yesterday I took my son to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Periodically, we like to go look at beautiful…..or interesting art.
It is not always that art is fun, and pleasant. Sometimes, I find art dark, because it reflects the mood or the interior of the artist, and not all of us have lived through wonderful times and have wonderful stories to tell.
Yesterday, I was discussing the exhibitions with my 12 year old. Some of them were really dark, and he wanted us to move on quickly. We did. But when we ended up in this exhibition of Yoshimoto Nara, a Japanese artist that I have not heard of before, my son was fascinated. SO was I.
Some of Nara’s paintings of children and animals looked both sweet….and sinister. But I saw some kind of spirit in each of them….I saw human nature.
I am posting several of the paintings here, including a remake of his drawing studio.
Enjoy!

Lizzy

When I show up in the morning at the top of the stairs, she is already waiting for me, sitting at the bottom.   She lets out a short meow, or maybe two, and I know she is telling me good morning. She’s not a small cat, or perhaps she looks this way because of her big hair.  She also has short legs.
I make myself coffee, and with  the cup  in my hand  I  sit on the couch. She comes and cuddles next to me.
She has a cute head, and it makes me smile when she follows me with her eyes as I respond emails, as if she is wondering what plans do I have today.
I like her eyes the most. Have you ever looked into your pet’s eyes? They are as expressive as those of humans. Maybe even more expressive. Hers are curious and innocent.
I don’t know when in the past cats became domesticated animals, maybe it  happened when peasants started giving food to wild cats to reward them for catching the mice that destroyed the corn and grain they stored in their silos?  I don’t know……. But  I’m glad it  happened, I’m glad that I have  Lizzy.
