Today I went to the Flight Faire in Long Beach Airport – I got to get into some flying machines that I’ve never been before. It was absolutely amazing.
The B-17 bomber topped it all; this is one of the last 4 in the world still flying. The particular one in the exhibition did not fly in World War II.

Thats truly amazing – yesterday I watched a comedian here on TV, she went for a ride taxi-ing on an old Lancaster bomber, the whole thing shook with the power of the engines – she said it was one of the best things she every experienced! Those old machines!! And – you look amazing too!! :)

Seeing others flying nearby must have given them some comfort on those dangerous missions, and no wonder they had to wear those sheepskin coats, it must have been freezing up there!
Yes! Freezing- a hostile environment even with nothing else happening around…
Frostbites were a regular thing for the men flying these planes ….
