Bring me something old

by Andrada Costoiu

Today, my son is at the computer for his classes, as he is doing on-line schooling.

He screamed from his room :” Mom! Mom! The teacher said to bring something old!”

Me: ” Old…let me see what I can find……!”

Him: ” Mom! Come on! “

Me: ” Wait!” , I say, as I am scrambling to find something so he could show to his class….

Him: : Mom! Ok! Listen…why don’t you come to the screen and I’ll show you..!”

Me: “What?!!!!”

Him: ” Yes, she said to bring something old….”

Me, puzzled at first and then laughing: ” I am not old!”

Note: kids and how they see us, parents. I thought it was hilarious….just another of his pearls :))))

The twig

by Andrada Costoiu

Ok, no offense to anyone but here is a conversation between my two kids today 🙂. I thought it was so funny😄

My son says : “Rich people will buy anything”

My daughter she frowns first and says : “ Hm! Right …anything anything ?” Then she starts laughing at him and she says ” Anything? Like a twig?”

My son, looking so serious:” Yes, if it’s expensive they’ll buy it . An expensive twig…. yea ….like a 300 dollar twig from Louis Vuitton.”

Note: I could add my own thoughts, but I will leave this post just for my kids:).

Masterful artist

by Andrada Costoiu

I recently meet a man,
More masterful than Renoir and Matisse.
He said hello one morning,
And then proceeded coloring my world:
He washed the city’s gray away,
Painted my sky bluer,
The stars bigger, like bits of magic strewn across heaven,
White and black became red, purple and yellow, the colors of love.

He also played music,
The strings of his guitar sounded like Jimmy Page,
When he professed his love to me at home,
And also on the stage.

It felt so good,
I wanted this to last,
To play my part in it at once,
Was what I felt and it was I must!

I made my mission to spread my love all over him like confetti,
To cook him his favorite dish, spaghetti,
To bring him every morning a crunchy juice,
Full of vitamins for his body to use.

We were blissful and everything was grand,
Until one night when our blissful situation just got out of hand.

In wholly ingratiated state,
My lovely man passed out face down on his plate,
From drinking a bit more,
And eating cold nachos from the day before.

Controlling my emotions, I tried hard not to swing,
But then from the kitchen, his phone started to ring.
I went to answer and found out,
That my man had a woman lined up for a “workout”!

Flummoxed and weeping I searched my man’s inbox,
And discovered that his true name was: Swiper da Fox!
His list of “swipe” dating turned to be vast,
It was the unedited truth about his present and his past!

My knuckles got all white, but with profonde composure,
I confronted da fox and asked for full disclosure.
With feathers in his mouth, the guy was still a cheat,
He kept denying everything, unable to admit.

I then packed the fox’s clothes and told him that is over,
I wished him a nice day and smiled at his hangover.

Note: my mission today was to make you smile. I hope you did by reading this poem : ).

Perspective

by Andrada Costoiu

Polarity is everywhere.
Light and dark, male and female, yin and yang
To understand a concept we must know its opposite brother,
Because how could we know one without knowing the other?

I know it is logic, but sometimes we give a meaning,
The sense and perspective that fits with our own world screening.

I’m puzzled today because I don’t know why,
Numerology decided that number four is a guy.
That’s right, four is considered a masculine number,
It represents strength and stability,
Discipline and loyalty.

Are they right?
I have frowned and thought that perhaps,
Their number 4’s definition is based on their own maps.
For in my world I have the 4 leafs clover,
That I have picked from fields over and over.
It represents hope, faith, love and good luck,
And you might even see a fairy if the clover’s in your pocket tucked.

So you see, anything can have different perspectives,
From different people, with different objectives.
I think we see the world through our different lenses,
What’s apparent to you, might challenge my senses.
So please to not judge what to you might not seem right,
Because nothing in this world is back or is white.

This is me, wearing a 4 leaf clover. When I was a child I was looking for fairies, nowadays I did it again with my little girl. What would this world be without magic…..

Cheer you up #2: Charmin undercover

by Andrada Costoiu

At my desk,
I’m sneezing,
It’s probably from all the dust that has accumulated,
I haven’t been dusting,
I am busy and in a ruminative thought pattern,
Trying to make sense of the recent events.

The other day in the news,
Jackie Chan was fighting a New York gang member over a toilet paper roll.
“Shiny hiney” song interpreted by Charmin band,
Is #1 in topmusic charts.
It seems that today’s social order
Revolves around who has the cleanest ass*hole.

I want to gain control of my thoughts,
And disengage from this toilet paper dystopia.
Different societies prioritize different things,
I heard that the tea aisles in London’s supermarkets are empty,
They must have their own culprit……
But here, after two weeks of search,
I am glad that they finally found ours.
His name is Charmin,
He and his gang have been behind the current events.

Now that he’s caught he has no booty smile,
Way to go Charmin,
You’ll always be the villain till the end of time!
